Race of the Day – Free Past Performances

Friday, March 19th, 2010

As always, Daily Racing Form provides today’s free past performances at their website.

Here are today’s free horse racing tips, free past performance selections.

Race of the Day — March 19, 2010

Race 8
Aqueduct
NW4 Optional Claimer
$100K Claiming Price
$51K in purse money

#1 Shoptate — BugBoy Serpa is riding a nice percentage to start the career and goes for someone in the ‘Giant Killer’s’ family. Second time lasix and don’t like the rail draw but may be sitting on a big one if he can get away clean. Throw last race out as was stalking wide on an off track.
#2 Toulouse Lautrec — High percentage J/T combo makes this 4y.o. look like the favorite off that strong last performance and HLRB of a 96. At 9-5 we think he may bounce so be careful with him.
#3 Starforaday – Oldest runner in the field has six lifetime wins but doesn’t have enough speed to win at the A on a swift surface like is forecast for today. Check weather.com for the track conditions before the races you play for the day.

#4 Vicious Rapids — Another NW4 lifetime that fits the conditions and has a win at the track and distance. Carries a high weight again today and has been beaten by the favorite and others in here. J/T seem to be doing well but he’ll need to step up about 10 BP’s to win this.

#5 Mor Chances – This appropriately named six year old will get his thirty-first chance to race and he’ll be looking for win number ten. He’s the high earner in the field and sports a nice look on paper. He’s a state bred and has had no success in three attempts outside of his pedigree but ‘team Dutrow’ is always capable.

#6 Mt. Glittermore — With Glitterman in the bloodline an off track would suit him well. Claimed from Contessa from his last Asmussen sends him back out for $25K more then he paid for him. He’s listed at 3 to 1 but suspect him to be close to favorite. The conditions for today look to make the track real fast and with C.C. Lopez aboard he looks to be the controlling speed even on a fast track.

The free selections: 6 – 1 – 3 – 5

Today’s Break It Down race is courtesy of DRF.com and takes us to the inner track at Aqueduct where a small field of 4 year olds and up will go 6 furlongs for an 1XAlw for a purse of $42K.

Aqueduct this time of year is rough going because the weather is brutal for horsemen and horse players.

Speed is what you need to win going 6f at the Big A this time of year and it appears that Fernando Jara has the raw talent to make an easy lead. If the track is frozen or fast look for Ramblingamblinman to take them wire to wire.

He’s only a 4 year old with one win while breaking his maiden for $75k at Oaklawn but this track should be what the doctor ordered for him and Dutrow has him.

The entry by David Jacobson appears to be the only threat to make Jara go faster up front as he gives a leg up to Luzzi who will try to set it up for the closing part of the entry, Great Emperor, who is a multiple winner with a win over the surface and distance last December. We don’t think he can get there but it depends on how hard Luzzi sends Have You Ever.

Linda Rice has Jess not Jesse who’s a 4 year old NW2 coming into this race off a long layoff after having run in the Count Fleet behind Haynesville last year. He brings three consecutive bullet workouts to the race but appears to be overmatched.

The other entry is for John Terranova who names Channing Hill to both halves and will likely scratch one leaving an even smaller field so we don’t look for much value in here and hope to get 3 to 1 on Ramblingamblinman.

Good luck!

The race of the day is from Churchill Downs, home of the Kentucky Derby, is the G2 Mrs Revere Stakes for 3YO’s going 1 1/16 miles.

Between the Lines

It’s a big field led by Hot Cha Cha and she’s the morning line favorite at 3 to 1 with James Graham aboard.

There’s a lot to be said for this filly as the winner of two in a row when beating the likes of Gozzip Girl who had to miss the BC but was doing well for Albertrani before he decided to pass.

Hot Cha Cha was beaten at Churchill in the G3 Regret in June of this year while being ridden by Jesus Castanon who coincidentally rides the horse that beat her that day, Keertana.  Hot Cha Cha carries high weight of 123 and will be the favorite at post time. We’ll try to beat her for the win.

Kenny McPeek has three in the race and they look like two rabbits and a turtle — not the race needs more rabbits as Romacaca lead all the way in a good effort while running second to Hot Cha Cha at Arlington.

The second choice in the morning line is Miss World who also exits the G1 QE II at Keeneland. She’s trained by Clemente and will be ridden by Rajiv Maragh who is 0-10 at Churchill according to the form.

Mary’s Follies for Richard Dutrow ran against Careless Jewel who bombed in the BC last weekend.

The Selections
